沖縄の読谷村で工房を構える、壱岐幸二さんの作品。



「なんて簡素でキレイな器だろう。」壱岐さんが初めて湧田マカイ（碗）に出会った時のことです。

素朴で端正な形。釉掛けは高台部を上向きに持ち釉面に対して器を振るように掛ける「フィーガキー」といわれる独特の手法。機能美の典型といえる器。

沖縄にはかつて琉球王府が統合した“壺屋焼”よりも古い“湧田焼”という窯業集落があり、17～18世紀に湧田窯で焼かれたとされています。その湧田焼きをリプロダクトした器。

Pottery studio ICHI

This is a work by Koji Iki, who has a studio in Yomitanson, Okinawa.


"What a simple and beautiful bowl.” It was when Mr. Iki first met WAKUTA Makai(bowl).

Simple and neat shape. Glazing is a unique technique called "figaki" in which the foot is held upward and the glaze is hung by swinging the bowl. A bowl that can be said to be typical of functional beauty.

In Okinawa, there is a ceramic village called "Yudayaki", which is older than "Tsuboyayaki", which was once integrated by the Ryukyu Kingdom, and it is said that it was burned in the Yuda kiln in the 17th and 18th centuries. A work in which he re-produced the Yuda-yaki.
